The buzz for IPL 2025 auctions has already started to make headlines for various reasons. As the auction is set to be a mega one,the teams will be looking to retain their core for the next few seasons and will look to build a new team around them.
There has been a lot of speculation about the number of retentions as well and it will be interesting to see the number of retentions that BCCI permits ahead of the mega auction. However amongst the all 10 teams all eyes will be on Mumbai Indians who have players like Rohit Sharma,Hardik Pandya Suryakumar Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah on their side. It will be interesting to see the number of players Mumbai Indians retain for the upcoming season.
However there are speculations that Lucknow Super Giants owner Sanjeev Goenka is open to offer a package of 50 crore to Rohit Sharma to play for the franchise. , Now Sanjeev Goenka has himself answered the question regarding the same.
“And now there is a rumor that LSG has kept Rs 50 crore separately for Rohit Sharma. Is it?” the anchor asked on Sports Tak.
“You please tell me one thing, do you or anyone know whether Rohit Sharma is going for the auctions or not? All these assumptions are without any reasoning. I mean if Mumbai Indians will release Rohit Sharma or not, whether he will attend the auction or not; even if he comes how come you are going to spend 50 per cent of your salary cap on just one player, who will handle other 22 players?” said Sanjiv Goenka.
“Are you planning to buy him if he is there in your wishlist?” This was the follow up question from the host.
Goenka was evasive. “Everybody has got a wishlist. You want best player, best captain to be in your team. It is not about wanting. What you have got and what is available. What can you do with that. This is that thing. Anyone I can want but the same applies for every other team,” he said.
