The drama of controversy between Indian players and Pakistani players always remains in trend. Recently, former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir during commentary called Pakistani skipper a selfish player.
Gautam pointed out the poor performance of the Pakistani skipper. Babar Azam has played three matches so far and has just scored 8 runs. Gautam also mentioned that Babar should demote himself in the batting order and should send another player like Fakhar Zaman as Opener.
“In my opinion, first, you think about your team instead of yourself; if nothing goes according to your plan, you should have sent Fakhar Zaman up the batting order. This is called selfishness; as a captain, it is easy to be selfish. It is easy for Babar and Rizwan to open the innings for Pakistan and create so many records. If you want to be a leader, you have to think about your team”, Gambhir had said.
In the reply, Former Pakistani All Rounder Shahid Afridi came up with a quirky suggestion for Babar Azam and also pointed out that criticism always stays with you, and this doesn’t work for the betterment of the players.
“Tournament ke baad koshish karenge ki Babar bhi bole unke baare mein bhi kuch, kyuki wo bhi toh ghar jayenge na. [After the tournament, we’ll tell Babar to say something about him. After all, he (Gambhir) will head straight back home to India too]. There is always criticism, but you must be very careful with words. It would be best if you used words that should come as advice for the player, not as a hate speech. As far as Babar is concerned, he has given so many match-winning performances. The consistency with which he has scored, very few Pakistan batters have. He may not have risen to the expectations, which is why he is facing some flak.” Said Shahid Afridi.

Speaking on the match between India vs. Bangladesh game at the Oval, former All-rounder said that the Pakistani team and fans will follow every moment of this match because if Bangladesh wins the match, the hope of Pakistan reaching to the semi-final will still alive. Afridi also mentioned India is a big team, but in the T20 format, we have seen many upsets. But it will be a miracle if Bangladesh wins against the mighty Indian side.
“This is T20 format, any team can upset any other side. But on paper, the Indian team is quite big and experienced. They have some individual star performers, while Bangladesh is not the same team they were some time back. They were expected to do well, but whatever I have seen on Shakib’s captaincy, he hasn’t delivered good results. One would obviously rate India on current form,” the former all-rounder mentioned.
