Former Indian cricketer who has played for the National Team and Chennai Super Kings, Suresh Raina heaped a lot of praise on Rajasthan Royals batter Yashasvi Jaiswal after his impressive knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 11. Jaiswal, who is known for his flamboyant style played a brilliant unbeaten innings of 98 runs off just 47 balls.
The young batter set a new record for the fastest half-century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he batted aggressively right from the first over. It is worth noting that Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 26 runs off the first over bowled by Nitish Rana, which is also the second-most expensive first over in the IPL history. He smashed 12 fours and five sixes and scored these 98 runs with an outstanding strike rate of 208.51.
Suresh Raina made a huge statement on Jaiswal and said that if he were the selector for India’s upcoming ODI World Cup squad, he would have picked the RR batter for the team. Raina also commented that the batting technique of Jaiswal reminds him of the former Indian explosive batsman Virender Sehwag. Raina said that he has the potential to become a huge player in the near future.
While talking to Jio Cinema, Raina said,“If I was the Indian selector, I would have signed him today itself for the World Cup because he is in a very fresh mind. He reminds me of Virender Sehwag. I’m sure Rohit Sharma will be watching this because he will be searching for batters like him for the World Cup.”
