WPL Final 2023: Mumbai Indians Beat Delhi Capitals By 7 Wickets To Lift The Inaugural Trophy

Mumbai Indians emerged as champions in the first edition of the Women’s Premier League. It was Nat Sciver-Brunt again with the bat who made the chase look easy for the Mumbai Indians.

Nat Sciver and Harmanpreet Kaur stitched a remarkable 72-run partnership and helped the team to win the match. This helped Mumbai defeat Delhi Capitals in the final.Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning won the toss and elected to bat first. The team’s batting performance was decent but the middle-order of the team could not handle the pressure and collapsed.

However, in the end, Shikha Pandey and Radha Yadav played exceptionally well and scored 27 runs each of 17 and 12 deliveries respectively. Their acceleration helped Delhi reach a total of 131 runs.For Mumbai Indians, Wong and Hayley Matthews took three wickets each, while Melie Kerr got two wickets.While chasing the target of 132 runs, Nat Sciver-Brunt got 60 runs in just 55 balls with the help of seven fours.

Captain Harmanpreet Kaur also contributed with 37 runs and helped the team to get their maiden title.For Delhi Capitals Jess Jonassen and Radha Yadav got a one-one wicket each. For playing the brilliant innings of 60 runs Nat Sciver-Brunt got the Player of the match while Hayley Matthews of West Indies got the player of the series award.
