The BCCI planned to host the tournament’s historic opening match in the DY Patil Stadium, with the CCI standing as the backup venue.The second match of the next tournament will be a doubleheader between Bengaluru and Delhi at CCI on March 5, according to the tentative schedule.
The WPL curtain-raiser will include the teams owned by Indian billionaires, who also have a franchise in the ongoing ILT20 league. Aside from the actual games, Cricbuzz has revealed that the apex cricketing body intends to hold the inaugural edition in Mumbai at the CCI and DY Patil Stadium.There will be no matches of WPL at Wankhede as it will host the upcoming IPL season as well as an international game between India and Australia on March 17. The five-team tournament, playing 22 matches, will be played at the two picked locations.
The team with the most points at the end of the league stage will receive a direct entry to the grand finals, which will take place at the DY Patil Stadium on March 26. To determine the other finalist, an eliminator will be held at the CCI on March 24 between the teams that placed second and third.
