The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are going through one of their hazardous campaigns in this year’s IPL. The team has won just 1 out of the first 8 matches. The batting and bowling of RCB have never come together this season. In fact, RCB’s skipper, Faf du Plessis, has also gone on to name a few players that have cost the team the match.
However, this statement from Faf du Plessis did not go well with ex-CSK star Suresh Raina.
After RCB’s loss against the Royals, Faf du Plessis highlighted Mayank Dagar’s 20-run over as the game-changing moment for RCB.
In his post-match presentation, Faf du Plessis said, “The pitch definitely got better; you could feel it; the ball was skidding along nicely. We were excellent in the first four overs. I think that 20 runs over (from Dagar) took the momentum away and shifted the pressure back on us.”
However, Suresh Raina, in his interaction with Lallantop, slammed Faf du Plessis for his statement, saying that players like Rohit Sharma never do such things with their teammates.
Suresh Raina said, “If you say something like this about a junior in front of the press, it’s not right. The captain himself hasn’t been scoring runs. I’ve played with Faf for many years, and he’s a dear friend, but he should support the youngsters. You’d never see Rohit Sharma say something like this.”
Suresh Raina also opened up about his plans to open an academy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Suresh Raina said, “”I wanted to open my first academy in Jammu and Kashmir because I know that there are many talented kids there. A lot of talent has come from there in domestic cricket, international cricket, and in the IPL. They are very passionate. The kids have a bat and ball on the right side and an AK-47 on the left side. The easy option for them was the left one; there have been stone-throwing incidents as well. However, I wanted them to choose bat and ball.”
