World Cup 2023: Virat Kohli Skips The Training Session Before The Warm-up Game Against Netherlands

The star batter of Team India Virat Kohli was absent from the team’s voluntary practice session due to personal matters. However, it is anticipated that he will rejoin the team ahead of their second warm-up match against The Netherlands, scheduled for Tuesday, October 2, in Thiruvananthapuram.

Kohli departed from Guwahati to Mumbai on September 30 due to some personal matters in emergency, which resulted in his absence from the afternoon training session at the nearby college ground.

While talking to PTI, a close BCCI source said,”It was an optional session. He is expected to join the squad soon and could play the warm-up game if required.”

Not only Virat Kohli but captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and fast bowler Mohammed Shami also chose not to participate in the session. Instead, the training was attended by players such as Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah as well as the experienced spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

The upcoming warm-up match against the Netherlands in the World Cup will serve as India’s final opportunity to gain valuable playing experience before the official start of the tournament. India will start its World Cup campaign on October 8 against Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
