A snarky comment regarding the absence of India’s T20 World Cup participants in the Indian Premier League 2024 final was made by legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram. It’s noteworthy that only Rinku Singh of KKR, who plays in the reserves, made an appearance in the competition final—none of the 15 players from India’s World Cup roster made it.
In response, Akram offered an intriguing analysis of the state of affairs, stating that since all of the players were eliminated prior to the championship, none of them would now claim to be exhausted. The former Pakistani cricket player went on to suggest that the Indian team would really benefit from it.
“For now, though, at least none of them will have to admit to being exhausted. They were planning forward, reasoning that we would play with India and that there was no use in going to the final. But for India, it might be a gift in disguise, “Akram stated on Sportskeeda.
In addition, Akram predicted that the players would be worn out following a demanding IPL season. But they will bounce back swiftly, given the fitness requirements of contemporary cricket.
“We talked about how I was concerned that they could be tired in the last episode, and they undoubtedly will be tired. They don’t even go through America. As far as I can recall, Dallas is Pakistan’s first game. They will now play one or two practice games there. I guess everything will be alright. The boys will bounce back because it’s a T20 match and they’re in great shape these days,” he continued.
On June 1, the Men in Blue will play a warm-up match against Bangladesh. On June 5, they will take on Ireland in their first game of the campaign. The Men in Blue will face their bitter rivals, Pakistan, on June 9 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. They are in Group A with Ireland, the United States, Canada, and Pakistan.
