Women’s Premier League Franchise Mumbai Appointed Their Coach Staff

All the teams have started preparations for the first edition of the Women’s IPL or Women’s Premier League (WPL). The Mumbai franchise has appointed former England’s Charlotte Edwards as the head coach. In her 20-year career, she led England to victory in ODIs and T20 World Cups. She has coached teams like England and Australia in the last 5 years.

Jhulan Goswami will be seen as a team mentor and bowling coach. Jhulan took more than 350 international wickets in a career spanning 20 years.

Former India all-rounder Devika Palshikar has been appointed as the batting coach. Devika, who has represented India in international cricket, has a lot of experience in coaching. She coached the Indian women’s team from 2014 to 2016.

However, Trupti Chandgadkar Bhattacharya has been appointed as the team manager. Trupti has also been a former manager of the Indian women’s cricket team.

“I am happy to welcome Charlotte Edwards, Jhulan Goswami, and Devika Palshikar. It is wonderful to see more and more women in sports excelling as players, coaches, administrators, and support staff. It is an exciting time for women’s sports in India. Our women athletes have consistently made the country proud on the international stage.” Said Nita Ambani, head of Mumbai Franchise.

This year five teams will be seen playing in this tournament. These include the teams of Mumbai, Gujarat, Lucknow, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi. The auction regarding the players is likely to be held on February 13, either in Mumbai or Delhi. At the same time, all the teams have started adding coaching staff to their team.
