The former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has questioned Kohli’s involvement with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the upcoming season. Kohli chose to skip the IND vs ENG Test series due to the birth of his second child.
Anticipations are high for Kohli’s return to action in IPL 2024. The Royal Challengers Bangalore are scheduled to face defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the opening match on March 22 at Chepauk. However, given the proximity of the IND vs ENG 5th Test, which concludes just a week before the T20 tournament begins, concerns have been raised regarding Kohli’s participation.
While answering whether Kohli will play in IPL 2024 or not, Sunil Gavaskar said, “Kya woh khelenge… kuchh reason ke liye khel nahin rahe hain, shaayad ho sakta hai ke IPL ke liye bhi na khele (Will he play… He is not playing because of some reason, perhaps he may not play in IPL as well.”
Gavaskar expressed uncertainty and raised several doubts when responding to the issue. Kohli had initially opted out of the first two Tests in the IND vs ENG series, citing personal reasons. The BCCI later clarified that Kohli would not be participating in any match of the series. After that, Kohli announced the birth of his child in London.
