Will Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Be The Part Of The Indian T20I Squad? Here Is The Latest Update On The Future Of These Stars

The star batters of team India Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have conveyed to the BCCI that they are ready for the selection in the T20I format, despite not playing the T20I matches for India since the 2022 T20 World Cup.

The selection committee is scheduled to convene on Friday to finalize the squad for the upcoming three T20 matches against Afghanistan and the first two Tests against England. The series against Afghanistan is set to commence on January 11, with the five-match Test series against England starting on January 25.

India is slated to engage in just three T20Is against Afghanistan prior to the World Cup in June.

In the absence of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who are unavailable due to injuries, the selection committee will need to choose a new captain for the T20 matches. It has been also known that it is probable that the selection committee will give a rest to fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah in the forthcoming matches against Afghanistan.

Siraj and Bumrah played pivotal roles in India’s comprehensive victory over South Africa in Cape Town on Thursday, resulting in India leveling the two-match series.

Cape Town currently hosts three selectors – SS Das, Salil Ankola, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
