Hardik Pandya’s journey as the captain of Mumbai Indians has been so average so far, that the team is yet to win a match in the ongoing IPL 2024 edition. The team lost the third match of the season against Rajasthan Royals by six wickets.
Pandya moved from Gujarat to Mumbai after leading Gujarat to the IPL title in 2022 and guiding them to the final in 2023 as their captain. He assumed the role of Mumbai’s captain, replacing long-time captain Rohit, but has yet to achieve his first victory.
While having a conversation with Cricbuzz, Manoj Tiwary said that Rohit Sharma could be assigned the captaincy role once again for the Mumbai Indians.
“Mumbai’s captaincy could be handed back to Rohit Sharma. What I understand is that the owners of Mumbai Indians don’t hesitate in making decisions. They made the call of taking the captaincy from Rohit and giving it to Hardik Pandya despite Rohit winning five IPL titles for them,” said Tiwary.
“Changing the captain is a very big call. They have not picked up a single point this season. And the captaincy is also all over the place, it’s not just bad luck and the captaincy has been very good, that’s not the case. The captaincy has not been great,” Tiwary added.
