Will Jacks happy to play any role for Mumbai Indians as per team’s requirements

Before their last league match against Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League on Monday, Mumbai Indians player Will Jacks talked about how he can adapt to different roles for the team. He mentioned that he’s okay with batting at any spot, whether that’s number three or further down the order, since the team sometimes needs different players in different situations.

My role has been flexible. I’ve batted at number three or gone down to the lower order, and I’m fine with that. I just want to play whatever role the team needs. We’ve got a really strong batting lineup, and it means sometimes other players fit better in certain situations. You need to be comfortable and flexible as a player, Will Jacks said during the press conference.

He also praised his teammate Suryakumar Yadav for being brilliant and consistent in every match. He pointed out how tough it is to keep that up, acknowledging Yadav’s hard work and preparation for each game.

I think he’s absolutely brilliant. Being consistent in every game is tricky. He’s out there working hard, preparing for each venue and each ball he faces. He has a plan and sticks to it. He can bat during the power play and in the death overs. His ability to adapt in different situations really helps him stay consistent. I’ve learned a lot from watching him, and he’s open about sharing tips in the changing room too, he added.

Punjab Kings lost their last match against Delhi Capitals by six wickets and currently sit second in the points table with eight wins and four losses in thirteen matches. They’ll be looking to bounce back and perform better with the ball. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are fourth in the table with eight wins and five losses after beating Delhi Capitals last time. This matchup is set to be a tight game between the two teams.
