Veteran Indian wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik expressed his willingness to contribute to RCB in any situation and role in the future after Virat Kohli urged the retiring wicketkeeper-batter to stay connected with the Bengaluru-based franchise after he retires from cricket.
Karthik hinted that he played his last IPL game after receiving an emotional guard of honor following RCB’s Eliminator exit on Wednesday. Tributes have been pouring in for the veteran wicketkeeper-batter and he will finish his IPL career with more than 5000 runs for different franchises he has played so far.
On Friday, RCB shared a video in which their players and support staff reminisced about their time in the dressing room with Dinesh Karthik. In the video, Virat Kohli commended Karthik’s growth as a cricketer and as an individual over the years, noting that his expertise will be beneficial to RCB in the future.
While talking to RCB, Dinesh Karthik said, “I will do anything I can for RCB, whenever possible. The fact that they have given me a new lease of life and I have played for them toward the fag end of my career is one that I will never forget.”
Karthik praised Virat Kohli and termed him as the greatest player to play this game. He said that he is delighted to get the support and motivation from Virat Kohli.
“Virat Kohli is probably one of the greatest athletes to have ever played this sport. Arguably the most famous personality going around in the world of cricket. I have been an admirer of his. I have learned a lot from him in terms of how much he pushes himself off the field.”
“To know that he respects me and values me as a person, I will take that as a massive, massive success in my cricketing journey. I just want to be thankful to people like him who have helped me during my journey,” he added.
