Sunrisers Hyderabad were beaten by a comprehensive margin of eight wickets by the Knight Riders in the finals of the Indian Premier League. However, after the loss, Sunrisers Hyderabad’s assistant coach, Simon Helmot, said that the team would come back hard in next year’s IPL.
After the loss, the coach accepted the fact that their batters in the middle overs failed to score the runs, because of which they were not able to get to a big score. Helmot was also all praise for KKR for playing a fearless brand of cricket in the finals.
“Travis Head is a skilled left-arm pace player who has played them well throughout his career, regardless of pace or spin. Of course, we didn’t always receive as much from the middle order as we would have liked, but we had a lot of great games when Abhishek and Head scored runs. KKR deserves praise for their fantastic season. Out of the games, they won seventy percent. They were fierce in their cricket game play. We’ll be back stronger next season,” Helmot declared.
Helmot went on to say that the Orange Army is not going to change its approach in the upcoming season.
Helmot said, “First off, neither our brand nor our strategy will alter. We played pretty well, in my opinion. We were put on the back foot by the two wickets early on; we simply lacked those partnerships.”
Helmot also went on to praise KKR for their fearless approach. He also lauded Skipper Pat Cummins and Coach Daniel Vettori for supporting the young players.
Helmot said, “Their squad plays with a lot of aggression. We were not that bad of players. The players make me incredibly proud. Our goal is to inspire individuals to express themselves, and Pat Cummins and Daniel Vettori are great supporters of the players we want to do that with. For the individuals, tonight’s IPL 2024 final defeat will be a significant learning curve.”
