The third T20I match of the series between India and New Zealand is set to be played in Ahmedabad on 1st February. There has been a lot of controversy regarding the pitch in this series so far, especially the controversy regarding the Lucknow pitch increased the tension even more. Now Team India’s vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav has given his statement on this controversy.
In the press conference before the Ahmedabad match, Suryakumar Yadav said it does not matter which pitch you are playing because we cannot control these things. We did whatever was in our control. We have to work according to the situation, which is what we tried to do.
“It doesn’t matter what soil you play on. These are the things that aren’t in your control. Whatever was in our control, we did in the last game. And we had to apply and adapt whatever we got. Also, it was an exciting game. No matter what the condition or the format is if both teams try to have a good competition… wickets shouldn’t matter. You go out there, have a challenge, accept it, and move on,” said Surya Kumar Yadav.
This statement of Suryakumar Yadav is very different from the statement of Captain Hardik Pandya. Hardik Pandya had called the Lucknow pitch not fit for T20 and criticized it a lot. The pitch curator of Lucknow was removed only after Hardik’s criticism.
In the T20 match held in Lucknow, the New Zealand team scored only 99 runs; in response, India scored 100 runs after losing 4 wickets after a lot of struggle. Suryakumar Yadav played an inning of 26 runs in this match, for which he got the player of the match award. Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir said that if many players see this pitch, they should not come to Lucknow to play IPL.
