In the first T20I against Afghanistan played at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali, team India beat the visitors by six wickets and took a lead of 1-0 in the three-match T20I series.

Before the match, everyone expected that Yashasvi Jaiswal going to open the Indian innings with Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, however, BCCI came up with a reason for the left-hander’s unavailability in the first game.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has disclosed the reason for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s exclusion from India’s Playing XI in the first T20I. Despite being in good form in T20Is, Jaiswal was not part of the team, and during the toss, Captain Rohit Sharma mentioned that the young player was unwell which eventually marked his absence from the playing XI.

In addition, the BCCI provided an update on Yashasvi Jaiswal’s condition and revealed that he is dealing with a sore right groin.

“UPDATE: Mr. Yashasvi Jaiswal was unavailable for selection for the first T20I due to a sore right groin,” the BCCI posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Captain Rohit Sharma also talked about the absence of Rohit Sharma during the toss and said, “I had a chat with Rahul bhai regarding the combination going forward and what we need to do as a group. That’s what we’ll try to do, but winning is the most important thing. Sanju Samson, Avesh, Yashasvi (who didn’t pull off well) and Kuldeep miss out.”

In the absence of Jaiswal, the management included Shubman Gill as their opener. They also gave a chance to wicket-keeper Jitesh Sharma which the players utilized well and played a sensible knock of 31 runs in just 20 balls to take India home along with Shivam Dube(60*).
