‘Why Virat Lied…’, Chetan Sharma Opens On Kohli vs Ganguly Dispute 2 Years Back

Chetan Sharma, the chief selector for Team India, has made some stunning disclosures on the verbal confrontation between Sourav Ganguly, the former BCCI president, and Virat Kohli, the former captain of India. These shocking revelations by Chetan Sharma came after ZEE conducted a sting operation on this former Cricketer.

In this video which came out after the scandal, Chetan Sharma said that the former Indian captain Virat Kohli ‘Lied’ during the sensational press conference which happened just before the India Tour Of South Africa.

Before the Indian squad traveled to South Africa, Kohli denied a statement that Sourav Ganguly has asked him to leave the captaincy of team India in T20Is before the T20 World Cup 2021.

He further claimed that Sharma was the only one to inform him of his suspension as ODI captain just one and half hours before the squad selection meeting for the South Africa Test series.

In the sting operation VIDEO, Sharma claimed, “Sourav Ganguly said that once, in what might have been a video conference. Virat would not have heard. Nine people were sitting there, not one person. All the people were there… I was also there. All the selectors and board members were there. Either Virat didn’t listen or Virat did. I don’t know. We don’t know, Virat will know.”

“Why did Virat say? He was going to South Africa as a captain. The press conference is about the team. There was no need to bring this topic there. The truth was that there was talk. Eight to nine people were sitting and talk was happening. Ganguly had said (spoken to Kohli).

“Virat was lying. But why Virat lied, nobody knows till today. This is his matter. There was controversy in it – board versus player.”

Sharma continued by claiming that Kohli believed he lost the captaincy as a result of the then-BCCI chief while elaborating on the Kohli vs. Ganguly dispute. During the media briefing, he claimed that Kohli had a massive ego and wanted to pay back Ganguly.

Chetan Sharma elaborated, “The press conference ahead of India vs South Africa series where Virat Kohli revealed that he was told 1.30 hours before the declaration that he will be leaving the captaincy was unnecessary. He just wanted to get back at Sourav that’s why he did it.”
