Why KL Rahul Is Not There For Zimbabwe Tour? Star Batter Himself Clears All The Rumours

On the Saturday evening, 30th July, BCCI announced his 15-member squad for the Zimbabwe Tour. The captaincy for the 3-match ODI series has been assigned to the senior batter of team India – Shikhar Dhawan. The first match of the series will be played at Harare Sports Club on 18th Of August.

From the former cricketers to fans, everyone was speculating about the comeback of Virat Kohli and Team India’s vice captain KL Rahul for the series. The logic behind this was the degrading form of Kohli and KL Rahul, also this Zimbabwe tour would have given them a Chance to regain their full-fledged fitness.

Just after the squad was announced, fans questioned the unavailability of Virat Kohli and also KL Rahul. The Indian vice-captain posted a message on his official Twitter handle and gave an update regarding his fitness to come back to the team. In the message, he pushes himself to get full fitness as soon as possible and represent the country again with pride.

While tweeting a message on his official Twitter handle, KL Rahul wrote,”Hey guys. I wanted to clarify a couple of things about my health and fitness. My surgery in June was successful, and I had begun training with the hope of returning to national duty for the team’s tour of the West Indies. Unfortunately, as I was nearing a return to full fitness, I tested positive for COVID-19. This naturally pushes things back by a couple of weeks, but I aim to recover as quickly as possible and be available for selection as soon as I can. To represent the national team is the highest honor, and I cannot wait to get out there back in blue. See you soon, KLR.”

KL Rahul is still to play a match after the closure of IPL 2022. He was named as the India captain for the 5-Match T20I series against South Africa. However, he got a groin injury before the first match of the series and went to Germany for the surgery. It was highly expected that he would be there for the T20 series against the West Indies, but just before the series when he was there at National Cricket Academy(NCB), he tested positive for Covid-19, eventually making a place for Sanju Samson into the Squad. However, there is no doubt over him and Kohli to be there with the team during the Asia Cup.
