Why Jason Roy has been dropped from the Pakistan series and Wt20? – Report

In the upcoming tour to Pakistan of England, Jason Roy’s name from the squad will be reportedly missed. Jason Roy has been a significant part of Eoin Morgan’s new and recharged white ball cricket era since 2015. He has played some memorable knocks as an English opener.

Jason Roy with his opening partner Jonny Bairstow were the key factors for England’s 2019 ODI world cup win.

But in recent times Jason Roy’s form is not clicking and he has been silent with the bat. His dip cost him his place in the squad in the upcoming tours. Jason Roy’s record in 2022 is abysmal with 206 runs in 11 innings having only 1 half-century.
In the T20 Internationals, the record is even worse with only 78 runs in 6 T20Is against India and South Africa at home turf. That too at a strike rate below 100.

The news comes after The Daily Mail report, which said that Roy’s massive dip in form cost him his exit from the squad in the upcoming 7-match series against Pakistan in Pakistan.

The report also said that Jason Roy is likely to miss the men’s T20 World Cup in Australia from October – November

The T20I series against Pakistan will see Moen Ali as captain with star players like Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow skipping the tour. With regular white ball captain Jos Butler missing the series due to injury during The Hundred.
