Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis known for his dedication to fitness and dietary rules. He has commenced his journey to India for the ODI World Cup 2023. He has brought along a personal chef to ensure his dietary needs are met. Stoinis is following a ketogenic diet, which is defined by its emphasis on high-fat and low-carb intake. According to recent reports, one of his preferred dishes includes baked oats infused with protein.
Stoinis is in India, and a chef from Mumbai Velton Saldanha is also accompanying him. Saldanha makes food for Stoinis in the hotel kitchens where the Australian team stays. Stoinis met him during this year’s IPL when they played together for the Lucknow Supergiants. KL Rahul, who is Stoinis’s teammate suggested Saldanha to him.
“I’ve consistently maintained a strict approach to my diet and overall preparation,” he said.
The report describes dietary changes that involve substituting traditional items like garlic naan with gluten-free banana bread and replacing shepherd’s pie with a version featuring roasted cauliflower mash. One exceptional dish, the roast butter chicken, demonstrates Saldanha’s fusion of French culinary training and Indian heritage, earning him praise.
“Stoinis is getting by on baked oats — at least for the small carbohydrate portion of his meticulously curated diet. By the end of the World Cup, Saldanha might be able to sell the ‘Stoinis Oats’ as a standalone dish,” the report said.
