Why Is KL Rahul In Asia Cup? This Guy Deserves More To Be In The Team; Says Danish Kaneria

Just after coming out from the injury, KL Rahul was again assigned the vice-captaincy role for team India. He was also the captain of India for the 3-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.

The player was out from the action after IPL 2022 and due to severe injury, he could not make the England tour as well. However, Asia Cup is a golden opportunity for KL Rahul where he can score runs for himself and assure rigidity for his place in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Meanwhile, former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria has given a blunt statement on KL Rahul and questioned his selection for the Asia Cup 2022. Kaneria raised a voice for the young wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson and said that he must have been there in place for KL Rahul in the Asia cup.

While speaking on Cricketnext.com., Kaneria Said, “KL Rahul was coming from a big injury and then he went to Zimbabwe, and now he is going into the Asia Cup squad so early. India has a Sanju Samson-type of a player who’s been doing so well. He is a fantastic cricketer and he’s been playing beautifully. Samson didn’t get consistent opportunities to play for team India. He was in and out of the squad and now he is getting opportunities because Rahul Dravid knows him so well, and he knows what a talent he is.”

Kaneria said that Sanju Samson has some good form and Indian Cricket Management should not have left this young guy for the Asia Cup. He also said that KL Rahul is just coming from the injury so he should have kept all his focus on the upcoming T20 World Cup to be hosted by Australia.

Kaneria maintained, “India should have let him come in his form, but the thing is that he is a big name and if he wouldn’t have been in the team, then the whole media would have argued, why KL Rahul didn’t get selected? But, from a cricket perspective, Sanju Samson should have been in the squad for the Asia Cup in place of KL Rahul because Rahul is just coming from his injury, and he needs to get his form back.”
