Why BCCI Released Avesh Khan From The Indian Test Squad Just Before The India vs England 1st Test

Avesh Khan, who was named as the replacement for Mohammed Shami for the IND vs ENG Test series, has been omitted from the squad. The fast bowler was initially included in the squad for the first two Tests of the series but has now been released to participate in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2024 for his team.

“Fast bowler Avesh Khan has been released to play for his Ranji trophy team, Madhya Pradesh for their next Ranji Trophy fixture” the BCCI posted on X after England won the toss in the IND vs ENG 1st Test being played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Avesh Khan was a member of the India team for the ODI series in South Africa and also performed well for the India A team. However, he did not receive his maiden Test call-up, with Prasidh Krishna being chosen ahead of him.

Avesh Khan has been released from the India squad for the IND vs ENG Test series and will now join his Ranji Trophy team, Madhya Pradesh, which has been performing well and remains unbeaten in the ongoing 2024 season.
