Why Ajay Jadeja wants Indian captain Rohit Sharma to skip the second Bangladesh Test?

In the opening Test of a two-match series on Sunday, the Indian side defeated Bangladesh by a significant margin of 188 runs (December 18). To keep their winning streak against Bangladesh alive and take a 1-0 lead in the red-ball assignment, the visitors won the game in the opening session of the final day of play. The Indian squad competed in the first Test without their regular captain, Rohit Sharma. The 35-year-old hitter was injured on December 7 during the second One-Day International against Bangladesh, and as a result, he was unable to play in the third ODI or the first Test of the series. The right-handed opener has reportedly made a full recovery and will leave soon for Bangladesh for the second Test, according to reports.

Shubman Gill opened for India in the first Test in Rohit’s absence, and he performed admirably. In the second innings of the match, he reached his first Test century. However, Rohit is most likely to be benched if he gets available for the second game. KL Rahul, who struggled in the series opener, will continue to receive help as Rohit bats at the top and partners with him.

When questioned about who should remove Rohit when he rejoins the lineup during an interview with Sony Sports, former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja delivered a shocking response. He advised Rohit to stay where he is, at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), to finish his rehabilitation.

He said, “Tabhi toh bol raha hu Rohit ko bolo Ghar me baithne ke liye (That is why I suggest Rohit should stay at home). When a player suffers a hand fracture and you cannot hold the bat for about 10 days, even if you recover, you cannot join the team the very next day. It takes another 10 to 15 days. And we don’t even know the extent of the injury yet. That is why I suggest this. We are looking for a temporary solution, and this is the best solution for it.”

On December 22, the second Test between Bangladesh and India will start in Dhaka.
