Who’s better Sachin Tendulkar or Virat Kohli? Sanjay Manjrekar gives a massive statement regarding the same

Kohli retains the third position for a batter to score 14,000 runs in ODIs, Tandon having scored 18,246 runs and Sangakkara 14,234 runs.

Not surprisingly, Kohli became the fastest ever to scoring 14,000 runs, getting there in precisely 287 innings. Earlier, the records for the milestone had been only replicated by Tendulkar in 350 innings and Sangakkara in 378 innings.

Manjrekar pointed out some other positives in favor of Tendulkar: In terms of experience and delivering under pressure, Sachin has been there for most of his career, while Kohli took time to build himself as a first-rate candidate for captaincy; retirement should not count, given that Tendulkar has had it at the platter all his life playing under a better atmosphere, while Kohli churned out more pressure chases than Tendulkar.

One key difference between the two is that Manjrekar feels that Kohli has been much better in chasing than Tendulkar had been. Tendulkar liked to bat first, and it basically was a given that Tendulkar would not have to stick his neck out against the new ball.”

With great recognition of great ODI batters of all times, Kohli has seen out more high-pressure chases for the country than Tendulkar.

One major difference is that I think Kohli is a better chaser than Tendulkar. Tendulkar liked batting first. It was basically a certainty that he was not going to be out against the new ball,” said Manjrekar.

“Virat has several times where he has been there right till the end while chasing down the target. Tendulkar had a few games, but not that many compared to the number of times that Virat Kohli has,” insisted Manjrekar.
