The schedule for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to be announced in several stages. The Governing Council, led by Arun Singh Dhumal, is currently in the process of finalizing details, and the initial phase of the schedule for this prestigious league will be released very shortly.
A source close to the development said, “We have been discussing internally and have more or less figured out the schedule but a final announcement is likely to happen the moment we get clarity and necessary clearances from the Home Ministry and Election Commission of India on the polling schedule.”
There are no considerations to relocate the IPL outside of the country despite the upcoming elections, ensuring that the entire league will take place exclusively in India. Similar to the approach taken during the 2019 season, which coincided with the General Elections, the schedule will be revealed gradually.
The initial phase of the schedule, encompassing the first few games, will be disclosed before the complete schedule along with the qualifiers, eliminators, and the final is unveiled.
“The schedule will be announced in phases. Like it happened in 2019. For the first few games of each team, we will release the schedule soon and then when we get more clarity on polling schedule and other important dates, we will announce the remainder,” adds the source.
Team India is currently playing a five-match Test series against England where the hosts are up with the lead of 2-1. The fourth game of the series will be played in Ranchi on October 23.
