When Will Suryakumar Yadav Join The Mumbai Indians Squad? Here Is The Latest Update

In a major development for the Mumbai Indians (MI), the star batter of the team Suryakumar Yadav received approval from the National Cricket Academy on Wednesday and will soon join his Indian Premier League (IPL) team for the rest of the tournament.

The 33-year-old is expected to join the team either late Thursday or Friday morning and will participate in the team’s practice session on April 5. Meanwhile, the rest of the squad is currently on a break in Jamnagar and will return to Mumbai on Thursday night.

“Suryakumar Yadav has got the necessary clearance from the NCA and will be checking into the team hotel either tomorrow or the day after. He will be taking part in the net session on April 5, so let’s see how that goes. He should be okay for the Delhi Capitals match on Sunday,” a source close to developments tells CricketNext.

Surya has been out of action in cricket since hurting his ankle during the T20I series in South Africa last December, and further surgery for a sports hernia prolonged his absence. After the surgery in Munich in January, the right-handed batsman has been undergoing rehabilitation under the supervision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team. Today, he received the clearance to return to action.

The right-hander underwent a fitness assessment at the NCA a couple of weeks back but wasn’t able to meet the parameters to get the clearance. Both the Indian Cricket Board and NCA were not looking to rush him back to cricket and arranged for a practice match today to see how the body reacts after spending time in the middle.
