What will happen if Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals clash gets washed out?

CRIC Informer

The Delhi Capitals are close to being knocked out of the IPL 2025. They need to win their last two games to keep their top-four hopes alive. If they can’t win both, getting to the playoffs will get really tricky for Axar Patel and the team.

There’s a bit of a worry because rain might cause problems in their next game against Mumbai on Wednesday. Mumbai has a yellow alert for rain for the next four days, and AccuWeather says there’s an 80% chance of rain, with about 1.5 hours expected. The chance of rain drops to 25% at night, but it’s hard to tell for sure how things will go.

If the match ends up being washed out, it could help Mumbai, who are already a point ahead of Delhi. If they don’t play, both teams would get a point, making Mumbai’s total 15 and Delhi’s 14. Both teams will finish their league games against Punjab Kings, who have already made it to the playoffs. If the MI vs. DC match doesn’t happen, Delhi will have to keep an eye on the game between PBKS and MI to see what happens next.

If MI beats PBKS, Delhi is out of the playoffs, no matter what happens in their game. The only way for Delhi to stay in the hunt if their game against Mumbai is rained out is if MI loses their final match. So, Delhi really needs a good result against Mumbai, even if the game has to be shortened because of rain.
