What Makes Rishabh Pant’s Comeback So Special? Dhawan Shares His Insights

Team India’s young wicketkeeper-batsman, Rishabh Pant, is all set to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman in the upcoming season of the IPL.

Speaking on Rishabh Pant, Punjab Kings skipper Shikhar Dhawan reflected on Rishabh Pant’s journey of making a comeback in cricket after the fatal accident.

Rishabh Pant met with a fatal car accident that got him injuries on various parts of his body, which forced him to stay out of action from cricket for a longer period.

However, Rishabh Pant is all set to make a comeback in the upcoming IPL season and play as wicketkeeper-batsman for the Delhi Capitals after getting medical clearance from BCCI.

Speaking on Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan said, “I am very happy and excited to see Rishabh Pant back in action. He has survived such a fatal accident, all thanks to God. In the last year, he has worked so hard and shown such positive intent. He was in such pain that he wasn’t even able to move or do anything for the first few months.” 

Dhwan even shared insights on the initial struggle that Rishabh faced, even for the most basic things; however, his strong willpower has made him reach where he is.

Speaking on the same, Shikhar Dhawan said, “Even for the toilet, he needed someone’s assistance. From that rough phase to now, he has shown a lot of patience, positivity, and tolerance, and it’s a huge thing. It surely gave him a lot of strength, and I am sure he is going to do wonders for himself and the country.”

There were speculations of Rishabh Pant playing as a pure batter in this IPL season. However, after going for rehab for more than a year, Rishabh Pant is declared fit by BCCI and is all set to play as a wicketkeeper-batsman. BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that a good IPL with the bat for Rishabh Pant might get him please in India’s T-20 World Cup squad.
