“What happened to cricket….”Kevin Peterson expressed his concern over Pakistan’s downfall

Pakistan are currently involved in the two match test series against Bangladesh. The Men in green have been under the line of fire after their embarrassing loss against Bangladesh by 10 wickets. This was the first instance that Bangladesh has thumped Pakistan in their own backyard.

Pakistan has already been going through a rough patch in ODI and T 20 format as the Men in green have recently put on their worst performances in both the ICC tournaments.

Shan Masood and his men are facing a lot of criticism from many former players after their poor performance. Recently Former England great Kevin Peterson expressed his disappointment after Pakistan’s poor performance.

Talking about the same Peterson wrote on X,”What happened to cricket in Pakistan? When I played the PSL, the standard of that league was tremendous, the players had a very good work ethic and the youngsters on display were magic. What’s happening there?”

Apart from Peterson Pakistani opener Ahmed Shehzad too criticised Pakistan’s performance in recent times.

Speaking of the same Shehzad said,”I’ve never seen Pakistan perform this poorly in cricket during my lifetime. The issues with batting, bowling, and fielding can be talked about later. But this is a new low for Pakistan’s cricket team. It will be really hard for them to bounce back from this loss. They still haven’t fully recovered from their loss to Afghanistan,”

“I’ve mentioned this before too, the Pakistan cricket team is already in a downward spiral, so quick fixes won’t work. The situation is similar to what happened with hockey. Despite that, we didn’t expect Pakistan to lose to Bangladesh, but that happened too. The players aren’t to blame. The cricket board is responsible.

“Players don’t choose themselves for the team. The board is the one that keeps selecting them and doesn’t give local players a chance. If you don’t have local players who can step in for the current team, then what have you achieved so far?,” he questioned, criticizing the way the Pakistan Cricket Board operates.
