What happened at team India’s practice session at Lord’s? Here’s what you need to know

Gautam Gambhir, the Indian head coach, was seen in a long talk with his coaching staff after the Lord’s pitch for the second Test against England was revealed. Gambhir’s Team India had to play very well to come back in the Edgbaston Test. But, after calling the second Test pitch a ‘subcontinent’ wicket, England looks to have gone back to green pitches to get an advantage over the visitors in this series, making the Indian team rethink their plans.

Before the second Test at Lord’s, Gambhir had a heated talk with his coaching staff, according to a report in the Times of India. With Bumrah rejoining the team, Gambhir wanted to share his plans to take advantage of the field conditions and try to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

The report said that the serious discussion, along with the very green pitch, suggests India’s plan may be to use any help for their fast bowlers.

Earlier, at the press conference, India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said the pitch looks very green now, but some grass should be cut before the game starts.

He said that the pitch is very green, and they will have a better idea after they cut the grass. Bowlers can expect help, and the batters’ mindset will be important.

Even though the pitch helps fast bowlers, Kotak expects Indian batters to do well at Lord’s.

He said that Indian batters are very skilled, and they are scoring close to four without doing anything extra. This wicket will be hard, but they are not worrying too much about it.

Also, according to a report in RevSportz, Jasprit Bumrah bowled at full speed for about 45 minutes in the practice session, while many other players decided not to attend.

Players like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal reportedly skipped their training.
