Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, lauds Suryakumar Yadav for his extraordinary contributions to the squad. In their final Super-12 match of the 2018 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Suryakumar scored 61 runs off just 25 balls to lead India to a 71-run victory over Zimbabwe.
Sharma claimed after India’s victory that Suryakumar relieves other players of some burden, which is crucial for the team.
Sharma said, “What he’s doing for the team is remarkable. Playing and taking pressure off others – it’s quite important. We know his ability and it allows the other guys to take some time as well.”
The India captain praised Suryakumar for his poise and insisted that he is only getting better.
He added, “The confidence he shows when he bats, the dug-out can be at ease. He’s shown a lot of composure. This is something we expect from him. He’s going from strength to strength.”
Sharma praised India’s performance against Zimbabwe and noted that they intended to play their preferred style of football in Melbourne.
He further said, “It was a good all-round performance, something that we were looking for. Before the game, we were qualified but was important to come out and play the way we wanted to play,.”
India finished their Super-12 campaign in first place in Group 2 after a decisive victory over Zimbabwe. On November 10 at Adelaide Oval, they will now play England in the semifinal.
