The IPL 2025 has wrapped up, and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, finally broke their trophy curse by beating Punjab Kings in the final. Many teams put in some impressive performances this season, but hardly anyone had as wild a ride as the Delhi Capitals. Under Axar Patel, they started strong but then quickly fell apart, ending their season in fifth place and getting knocked out in the group stage.
After the IPL 2025 ended, former cricketer Aakash Chopra weighed in on what went wrong for Delhi. He pointed out that they struggled to pick a reliable opening pair. They had a good run with Jake Fraser-McGurk, but when they dropped him, things went downhill. They ended up trying seven different opening combinations, and none worked out.
Chopra also mentioned a bit of arrogance on Delhi’s part regarding not bringing in a replacement for Harry Brook early on. He claimed their decision not to sign anyone else, even when Dewald Brevis was available, really hurt the team. By the time they brought in Sediqullah Atal, it was too late.
