In the eighth match of the IPL 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad secured a 31-run victory over Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 match held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 27. After winning the toss, Sunrisers posted a record-breaking total of 277 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.
For SRH Heinrich Klaasen scored 80 runs, and Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head got 63 and 62 respectively. Mumbai Indians in response could only manage 246 runs, losing 5 wickets. For Mumbai Indians, Tilak Varma got 64 runs while Tim David got 42.
In this match, some milestones were created which are listed below.
1) In this match, a total of 523 runs were scored by the addition of both the teams which is now a record in T20 cricket. Before it, 517 runs were scored in a match between South Africa and West Indies.
2) In this match, the Mumbai Indians batter smashed 20 sixes while SRH got 18 under their belt. These 38 sixes are the highest for any men’s T20 match.
3) SRH 277 is also the highest score by a team in a single inning of an IPL match. Before it, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 263 runs against Pune Warriors India back in 2013.
4) Mumbai Indians did not achieve the target and stopped at 246 runs, however, they made a record with this and this is the highest run by an IPL franchise while chasing a target.
