The schedule for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 has been released by the BCCI in a grand event in Mumbai. It is highly noted that India will play its opening match against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium and the highly anticipated game against Pakistan will take place at Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15.
After the announcement of the schedule, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed his team’s enthusiasm for the upcoming ODI World Cup and their determination to perform at their best. The Indian team has not won any ICC trophies in the past ten years, placing them under significant pressure to succeed this time. However, Rohit acknowledges the pressure and recognizes the increasing competitiveness among all teams as they continue to improve with each passing day.
In a press release by BCCI, Rohit Sharma said,”It’s going to be a great experience playing in the World Cup at home. India won here 12 years ago, and I know fans nationwide can’t wait for us to take the field this time. This World Cup is going to be very competitive as the game has become faster and the teams are playing more positively than ever before. All this augurs well for fans worldwide, promising them many thrilling moments.”
He further added,”We look forward to preparing well and being at our best this October-November.”
India will now travel to West Indies for a complete series where they will play a three-match ODI series with the hosts.
