Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad had an interesting take after his team lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 on Friday. RCB celebrated their first win at CSK’s home ground in 17 years, really outshining the hosts. When asked about the defeat, Ruturaj mentioned he was glad they didn’t lose by a huge amount, just 50 runs.
He said, “I think 170 was a decent score on this pitch. It wasn’t easy to bat today. Our fielding let us down. When you’re chasing 170, you have a bit more time, but chasing an extra 20 runs changes how you need to play early on, and that didn’t go right for us.”
He noted that the wicket slowed down a bit and the ball felt a little sticky. “Sometimes you back your shot, and it just doesn’t work out. Rahul backed his, and I backed mine too,” he added. Ruturaj stressed that the team really needs to step up their fielding. “We dropped some catches, and RCB kept piling on the runs without letting up until the end.
He concluded, “But hey, we only lost by 50 runs.
It’s a different game when you have three top spinners in your squad; you want the new batters to face them, but that didn’t happen. We’ve got a long trip to Guwahati for our next match, so we just need to stay focused and figure out where we can do better.”
