Watch Yuvraj Singh picks his favourite team of IPL

Yuvraj Singh, the former all-rounder of India, believes that the Punjab Kings under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer can get realistic about their chances of the IPL title in 2025. The twice crowned IPL champions reckon that this will be the year that the Mohali side could potentially end their long title drought.

In a video by Curly Tales on Instagram, Yuvraj said, ”My favorite team is SRH, but I think this year it is going to be Punjab.” On all these grounds, Yuvraj said that Sunrisers Hyderabad is his favorite team, but he is strongly inclined toward Punjab’s chances this year.

The last time Punjab Kings made it to playoffs was in 2014. They acquired the player for Rs 26.75 crore recently at the IPL 2025 mega auction. And till now, they have played eight matches, of which five are won under his captaincy and currently standing fifth with 10 points in the table.

After suffering a close loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets, the team heads for upcoming matches to take on Kolkata Knight Riders, the defending champions, on April 26. The last encounter on April 15 saw Punjab defend a low total of 111 as they bowled KKR out for 95, thanks to four wickets by Yuzvendra Chahal.

Fans are expecting Chahal to repeat his fairytale last performances, especially as he is easily the only bowler in IPL history to have surpassed 200 wickets and sold for Rs 18 crore. Punjab also purchased for Rs 18 crore Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh, who has played all eight matches this season and is their top wicket-taker with 11. Meanwhile, captain Iyer is leading the batting with 263 runs, closely followed by Priyansh Arya with 254 runs.
