A day after announcing his retirement from Test cricket, Virat Kohli, India’s star batter, visited Vrindavan with his wife, Anushka Sharma, on Tuesday. They met with the well-known spiritual leader, Premanand Maharaj, to seek blessings. The couple often visits Vrindavan and is known to follow Swami Premanand Maharaj.
Kohli’s decision to retire marked the end of an impressive 14-year career that saw him shine in various conditions as both a player and captain. He played 123 Test matches, scoring 9,230 runs with an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 fifties. His best score was 254*. He ranks as India’s fourth-highest run-getter in Tests, behind legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Sunil Gavaskar.
Kohli made his Test debut in June 2011 against West Indies. His first tour was tough, with only 76 runs in five innings, but he quickly made a name for himself with some aggressive innings. His first big score came in 2012 against Australia in Adelaide, where he scored 116 runs.
From 2016 to 2019, Kohli had an outstanding run, racking up 4,208 runs in 43 Tests at an average of 66.79, including 16 centuries and 10 fifties. He even had seven double centuries, the most by any captain in history. Unfortunately, his performance in the 2020s hasn’t matched his earlier form, with 2,028 runs in 39 Tests at an average of 30.72, scoring three centuries and nine fifties.
His stats improved in 2023, where he scored 671 runs in eight Tests, averaging 55.91 with two centuries and two fifties in 12 innings.
