During the 43rd match of IPL 2023 at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, there was a confrontation between LSG fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq and star RCB batter Virat Kohli. The incident occurred while Naveen was batting for his team along with Amit Mishra and both Kohli and Naveen stared at each other in between the overs. After Lucknow lost the game against RCB by 18 runs, Naveen and Virat Kohli had a banter when other players were shaking hands while going to their dressing room.After the handshake of players, Virat Kohli and the LSG captain were seen having a conversation. Naveen Ul haq was also standing near them but when KL Rahul asked him to talk to Kohli, he denied and just walked away from that place. This clearly indicated that Kohli was not happy with Naveen’s attitude.
This controversy sparked another verbal spat between Gambhir and Kohli. However, the players and staff members from both the teams interfered with the matter and made the heated situation calm.
Talking about the match, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Faf Du Plessis won the toss and elected to bat first. Naveen Ul Haq in the first inning impressed everyone with the ball and grabbed three wickets. Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra supported them well and clinched 2 wickets each.
Chasing an easy target of 127 runs, LSG kept losing the wicket at regular intervals and they were bundled out on 108 runs.
