Young Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan made his Test debut against the West Indies in the first Test being played at Windsor Park, Dominica.
Although it was expected that Kishan wouldn’t display any nervousness due to his prior experience in limited-overs matches for India, his excessive enthusiasm behind the stumps was captured on camera multiple times.
In a surprising turn of events, Kishan was allowed to make his Test debut as a replacement for Srikar Bharat. Bharat was omitted from the team after a disappointing performance in both the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 and the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final against Australia at The Oval.
In this match, India was asked to bowl first. R Ashwin grabbed five wickets and bundled out the hosts on 150 runs. Debutant Ishan Kishan was excellent behind the stumps and he took two excellent catches of Reifer and Joshua Da Silva.
Kishan’s on-field comments took the attention of fans on social media. In one of the clips, Kishan was heard doing field adjustments and said, “Virat bhai, thoda sa side bas. Yash thoda side [Virat, Yash please move a bit straighter.”
Ishan Kishan’s excitement was at peak and he was on a great peak of excitement after his Test debut.
