Watch Video : Mohammed Siraj Takes Stunning Diving Catch To Dismiss WI Star

In the first Test between India and West Indies in Dominica, the opening day belonged entirely to the visitors. Led by the exceptional performances of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, India’s bowlers dominated while their fielders showcased agility and brilliance. West Indies struggled, ending their first innings on a meager 150 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin, determined to prove himself after being overlooked in the World Test Championship final, made a resounding comeback. Displaying his skill and expertise, he claimed his 33rd five-wicket haul, wreaking havoc on the West Indian batting lineup. Ashwin’s 5 for 60 in 24.3 overs underscored his top position in the ICC Test bowlers’ ranking. He was superbly supported by Ravindra Jadeja, who contributed with four wickets, making life miserable for the West Indies batsmen.

The Indian team’s fielding was equally outstanding, with several excellent catches throughout the day. However, the highlight was Mohammed Siraj’s exceptional catch to dismiss Jermaine Blackwood. Facing a fuller delivery outside by Ravindra Jadeja, Blackwood attempted to hit Jadeja’s head. But Siraj, positioned at mid-off, quickly moved to his right and leaped high in the air, stretching his arm to take a remarkable catch. He even endured a blow on his elbow, highlighting his commitment and bravery on the field.

For India, Skipper Rohit Sharma and debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal formed a solid opening partnership, adding 80 runs and reducing the first-innings deficit to 70 runs by the end of the day’s play. Rohit remained unbeaten on 30, while Jaiswal showed promise with a score of 40 not out.
