Watch VIDEO: ‘It Was A Blessing For Indian Cricket That In MS Dhoni, We Got..’, Gautam Gambhir Praising Words For Captain Cool

MS Dhoni is known for his blunt statement for so many cricketers where it’s for MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli. He has always made headlines for his sensational remarks. As India has won the Asia Cup trophy, the cricketer has now remembered the former Indian captain MS Dhoni for his commitments to the game.

On Sunday, September 17, Team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma crushed the Sri Lankan cricket team by 10 wickets to win the trophy. While bowling first in this match, the men in blue restricted Sri Lankan team on 50 with the help of solid bowling by Mohammed Siraj.

While chasing the target of 51 runs, Indian skipper MS Dhoni sent Ishan Kishan to open the innings with Shubman Gill and both the players finished the match in just 6.1 overs.

While having a conversation with Star Sports, Gambhir talked about the legacy of MS Dhoni as captain and how he managed to win so many trophies under his captaincy.

Gambhir who was a part of the Indian team alongside Dhoni believes that if Dhoni hadn’t been the captain at that time, he would have played as a No.3 batsman.

“Because of captaincy, he couldn’t achieve what he could have achieved as a batter. A lot of times as captain you have to keep the team first. If MS was not captain, he could have batted at No 3. I am sure he could have broken several ODI records. He has won a lot of trophies, but individually he sacrificed his international runs for trophies,” Gambhir said.

Talking further Gambhir said that it was a blessing to have a player like Dhoni in the team.

“Earlier, they were keepers first and batters later, but MS was batter first and then was a wicketkeeper. It was a blessing for Indian cricket that in MS Dhoni, we got a wicketkeeper-batter who can win you matches from No 7, because he had that power game,” Gambhir added.
