As events unfolded, Gautam Gambhir remained unfazed by the incident, showcasing resilience to score a crucial 51 off 30 deliveries. The India Capitals skipper adorned his innings with seven boundaries and a six, contributing significantly to the team’s placing a total of 223/7 in 20 overs.
In response, Chris Gayle put up a brilliant effort with a breathtaking 84 off 55 balls for the Gujarat Giants. However, despite his impressive innings, the team fell short by 12 runs in their chase to a mammoth total.
The second qualifier is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 7 and the final will be played on Saturday, December 9.
