The young Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan had a terrific performance against the West Indies in the recently concluded three-match ODI series. Kishan played a crucial role for the Indian team and scored a half-centuries in each of the three ODI matches against the West Indies. By the end of the series, Kishan had scored a total of 184 runs.
In the third ODI held at the Brain Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, the wicketkeeper smashed a fifty and got his name in an elite list that includes renowned names such as MS Dhoni, Dilip Vengsarkar, and Mohammed Azharuddin among others. At 25 years of age, he is the latest Indian batsman to get half-centuries in all three bilateral 50-over games.
In the last ODI, a stumping appeal prompted a lighthearted interaction between Kishan and former Indian opener Aakash Chopra who was the part of the commentary panel. Chopra cheerfully mentioned the iconic Indian captain, Dhoni, and in response the young player delivered an impressive and witty reply.
Chopra said,”It’s very rare that you review the stumping and run out dismissals. So far, I am seeing the feet on the ground. You can come from Ranchi, but your name is not MS Dhoni.”
“Ha, fir thik hai. (Then it’s okay),” the young wicket-keeper was heard saying in the stump mic.
“How sweet Ishan. We love you,” Aakash Chopra replied.
