So, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was really going for it at the Rajasthan Royals (RR) practice sessions before the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
At just 13, Suryavanshi is now the youngest player ever picked up at an IPL auction. RR got him last month for INR 1.1 crore.
RR captain Sanju Samson thinks Vaibhav will do well in IPL 2025.
Vaibhav seems sure of himself. He was hitting the ball way out of the park at the Rajasthan Royals Academy, Sanju Samson said on JioHotstar.

Everyone’s been talking about how hard he hits the ball. What more could you want? Now it’s about knowing what he’s good at, supporting him, and being there for him like a big brother, he added.
When asked how he’ll mentor the young player, Samson said, We (at Rajasthan Royals) try to keep things positive in the locker room and stand by our players. I think he’s ready for the IPL. He looks like he can really pack a punch.
Vaibhav said before that he’s more thrilled to be coached by Rahul Dravid than to be the youngest IPL player.
I’m really happy to get a chance to play in the IPL, Suryavanshi said. But I’m even happier to play for Rahul Dravid. I don’t have any special plan for the IPL. I’ll just play my game.
Vaibhav had an amazing 2024 season, killing it in both Indian and international games.
Playing for Bihar against Baroda, Vaibhav scored 71 off 42 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, which made him the youngest Indian to score a List-A fifty.
Internationally, he smashed the fastest youth Test century by an Indian, hitting a 58-ball ton against Australia in Chennai. The left-hander was also key in India getting to the ACC U19 Asia Cup final, where he scored two important half-centuries.
