After the Indian team’s lower order failed to impress in the first Test at Headingley, the bowlers had a batting practice to improve the tailenders’ skills.
BCCI posted a video on X of the bowlers practicing. The video showed Akash Deep, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna batting instead of bowling.
Akash Deep who looked solid while defending and hitting the ball said that the tailenders are very important. He said that the position they bat is very important. He also said he always tries to score 20, 30, 35 or 40.
Mohammed Siraj agreed saying that his goal is to help his team as much as possible by scoring as many runs as he can. He was seen defending well in the nets.
Prasidh Krishna said that for tailenders it’s very important to communicate clearly, mostly when they are batting with skilled batters. Prasidh said that they need to know their roles when a batter is batting or when they are batting with each other and it’s important to tell each other the right things, give each other cues and make sure the session is fun and not boring.
Bumrah and Prasidh were hitting some good shots while Kuldeep Yadav was looking composed and solid in defense. With the series on, every run from the lower order can be very crucial.
