Watch: Shreyas Iyer gets angry over Shashank Singh after PBKS victory over Mumbai Indians

Shreyas Iyer, the captain of Punjab Kings (PBKS), was really upset with Shashank Singh after their big win against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025. Iyer played brilliantly, scoring 87* off 41 balls, with 5 fours and 8 sixes, leading his team to chase down 204 runs in just 19 overs. Despite the win, which got PBKS into the final, Iyer had a moment of frustration with Shashank.

In a widely shared video, after the game, Shashank approached Iyer, but the captain reacted angrily, which left fans confused about what happened. Earlier in the match, Shashank got run out for just 2 runs in the 17th over when they still needed 35 runs. A direct hit from Hardik Pandya caught him off guard, and he didn’t pick up the pace until it was too late.

Iyer’s anger likely stemmed from Shashank’s slow running, which almost cost them the match with Jasprit Bumrah still left to bowl. On a brighter note, PBKS became the first team ever to chase down a score over 200 against MI, marking their second appearance in the IPL final since 2014. They’ll be facing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final on Tuesday, June 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
