Watch: Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir involved in a fun moment

The BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla recently denied any rift rumour between captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. While addressing an event, Shukla downplayed reports which surfaced during the disastrous tour of Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which India lost 1-3. Though Rohit and Gambhir have had some lesser moments in their camaraderie, it seems the duo has chosen to set those differences aside for a greater cause – assisting India in winning the Champions Trophy.

Before the ODI series opener against England in Nagpur, Rohit and Gambhir shared some fun after a team dinner. In a video that went viral, Rohit was seemingly joking while Gambhir was carefully listening with a smile on his face throughout the conversation.

India would be facing England in the first ODI match of the series at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Thursday.

Earlier this week, the BCCI announced the getting of Varun Chakaravarthy into the Team India’s squad for the upcoming three ODIs against England.

Varun took 14 wickets in the recently concluded five-match T20I series against England, which included a five-for at Rajkot, with the man of the series award for his fine bowling performance. The release from the BCCI stated that Varun has joined the ODI squad in Nagpur.

Rohit opened up in the pre-match press conference about Varun joining India’s squad for the ODI series against England by saying that they wanted to have an option and see what 33-year-old spinner could do for the Men in Blue.

“I understand that it is in T20 format but, he has clearly got something different about him. So we wanted to have an option and see what we could do with him. During the series, it presents us with an opportunity to play him at some stage and see what he is capable of,” Rohit was quoted by ICC as saying.
