Watch: Rahul Dravid gets involved in an argument after his car met with an accident

Former Indian captain and legendary player Rahul Dravid was on Tuesday evening in the news after being caught on camera arguing with an auto-rickshaw driver in Bengaluru. The video appears to have been filmed by a passerby, who apparently captured Dravid in a very unpleasant mood arguing with the auto-rickshaw driver in the local dialect Kannada. As reports further suggest, Dravid’s car had reportedly been hit by a goods auto, leading to an altercation between Dravid and the other driver. Whether Dravid himself was driving at that moment is unclear.

Sources state that an accident occurred on Cunningham Road, a busy street in Bengaluru, according to a report in news agency IANS. It states Dravid was travelling from Indian Express Junction towards High Grounds when the incident took place. It is alleged that while Dravid’s car was stuck in traffic, the auto driver came from behind to ram into his car. It is alleged that Dravid had collected the contact number of the auto driver before moving away from the scene.

There are no further accounts of the incident.

A video of Dravid engaged in a heated argument soon garnered attention on social media. Something being said about brakes could be heard from the argument.

As noted in a post by Times of India Bengaluru on social media platform X, Cunningham Road was home to the accident and argument after a minor collision. The post mentions that no injury occurred to any parties involved in either vehicle during the process.

According to a report from the Deccan Herald, the incident occurred about 6:30 PM. The report states that no complaint has been filed with regard to the collision or accident. It also states Dravid collected the phone number of the driver of the goods auto and the number of the auto before leaving the scene.

Dravid is 52 years of age and arguably the finest ever batsman in India having scored over 24,000 international runs for India across the Tests, ODIs and T20Is. Dravid had been the captain of India in the 2007 World Cup.

Dravid coached the Indian team until winning the T20 World Cup 2024, after which his tenure ended in July.

Post the tournament, Dravid shifted to the erstwhile Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) as the head coach. He was present in the IPL 2025 mega auction alongside RR when the team made waves for acquiring Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who at 13 years of age became the youngest-ever buy in auction history.
