Indian spin bowler Ravichandran Ashwin was seen getting upset during the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) elimination match between Chepauk Super Gillies and Dindigul Dragons on Wednesday, July 31 at NPR College Ground in Dindigul. The game was very close, with Dragons winning on the second-to-last ball of the match thanks to a boundary hit by S Dinesh.
This win allowed them to reach the target of 159 runs in 19.5 overs and move on to the Qualifier 2. The intense game had everyone very nervous, and even Dragons’ captain R. Ashwin, who is also Ravichandran Ashwin, showed his frustration. In a video that became popular online, Ashwin can be seen making angry gestures towards his batters from the sidelines, expressing his disappointment openly.
Earlier in the game, Ashwin scored an impressive 57 runs (off 35 balls) with four boundaries and four sixes, helping the Dragons take a strong lead. This was his second score of 50 or more in his T20 career. He also contributed to a big 112-run partnership in 72 balls for the second wicket with Shivam Singh, who scored 64 runs (off 49 balls). This happened after the Dragons lost Vimal Khumar early in the game with only three runs scored.
